Year 2000 Compliance
Introduction
The Y2K compliance information for OYO Instruments, LP was last updated on 14-May-1999. Information on components supplied by third party vendors is now included in the determinations used for this compliance statement.
Year 2000 Product Compliance Statement
The Year 2000 Compliance status of OYO Instruments products is determined by an evaluation subject to either of two criteria sets:
Compliance Class One
These products do not store or calculate dates. This class includes all OYO Instruments thermal plotters and imagesetters.
Class One Compliant Products:

- Liberator 2800
- Liberator 3600

- Liberator 5400

Compliance Class Two
Class Two products store and calculate dates consistent with the following criteria:
- The products functionality is not affected by 21st century dates.
This applies to both run dates and dates being calculated.
- The product recognizes leap years, including the year 2000,
and accepts February 29 as a valid date.
Class Two products are listed below with requirements for software and system hardware/processors:
- DFM-480P - Must be equipped with a Pentium processor/motherboard configuration, and must have software version 4.40 or higher (Serial numbers > 373 are Pentium equipped).
- DAS-1 - Must be equipped with a Pentium processor/motherboard configuration, and must have software version 1.35d or higher installed (Serial numbers 99-104 and >110 are Pentium equipped)
Class Two Product Notes:
- Only systems equipped with a Pentium processors/motherboard configuration are known to be compliant. Some 80486 processor/motherboard configurations may be compliant, but must be tested to verify compliance. To acquire software to test your unit's hardware compliance, click here.
- DFM-480, DFM-480-4, and 80486-based DAS-1 systems can be upgraded to a Pentium processor/motherboard configuration. Contact OYO for more information.
- Some compliant systems will run before and after midnight on December 31, 1999, but they may require a reboot if the system is running when the date transitions to Jan. 1, 2000.
- All systems purchased prior to April, 1999 will require the software update available at the link below.

Non-Compliant Products
The following products are either non-compliant or will not be tested:
- DFM-250
- McSeis 160MX
- DFM-480 and DFM-480-4(80386 and 80486-based, serial numbers <374)
- DAS-1 (80486 based, serial numbers 1-98 and 105-110)
Note: Many DFM-480, DFM-480-4, and DAS-1 systems have been upgraded to a Pentium processor/motherboard configuration. All non-compliant systems should be tested to establish their compliance status on an individual basis. OYO can provide upgrades for non-compliant DFM-480 and DAS-1 systems.
