About The RIP
RTI and OYO have joined forces to bring you a cost effective, high powered software RIP solution to drive your new Liberator XE, GMAX or GS imagesetter. This RIP is based on the Harlequin Scriptworks Postscript Level 3 RIP core.
Speed
RTI's Harlequin RIP is one of the fastest and most reliable RIP (Raster Image Processor) solutions in the industry. It can print in minutes what may take over an hour on a laser printer or another RIP. Not only does it print files fast, it will continue to accept and rasterize new files while it outputs to the Liberator; something many RIPs can't do.
Control
With the RTI rip you have full control over the settings you need for quality printing. You can set screen angles, frequency, and dot shape at the RIP level or, if you prefer, use the values you input in your artwork application. Not only that, you can control almost every other aspect of your job from the RIP as well; positive/negative printing, rotation, percentage, crop marks, image placement (tiling), and dot gain calibration.
Integration
You can network the RIP easily into both a Macintosh and PC environment. On the Mac the RTI will publish itself as a Chooser level printer accessible with any Laserwriter driver. In fact, you can set up several Virtual Printers published from the same RIP. Each of these printers can have different configurations assigned to it to assure your job comes out the right way every time. No more user errors! The same thing can be done in a PC environment by placing your files into shared Spool folders or by printing to shared NT printers.
Preview and Print
Once your file has been RIPped, it can be held for later output, previewed, or output immediately. The preview feature can be a tremendous time and money saver. Unlike other preview schemes which display an interpreted version of your file, the RTI shows you the actual data that is getting sent to the Liberator. You can view this one separation at a time, or combine multiple separations to check for proper color separation and even trapping. Once output, your file remains in a 'held queue' where it can be stored for re-output or print multiple copies without reprinting from your workstation; another big time saver.
Stochastic Screening
If all that isn't enough, how about stochastic screening thrown in as well. RTI is including Harlequin's Diffused Screening technology with every RIP. No more worries about screen or mesh moiré. This random dot screening technique eliminates the need for setting different angles for different colors. It's perfect for the screen printer who often prints more than the 4 standard process colors.

OYO can preconfigure a RIP and computer for use with your new Liberator. This is the recommended way to go to avoid problems that crop up when installing on systems with untested hardware. If you do want to provide your own PC please make sure your system matches or exceeds the minimum configuration on the RIP Specification page.
