About the RIP OYO has worked closely with Optronics to bring you the processing power of their RIPRight PostScript Level 3 interpreter. This Harlequin core RIP combines a state-of-the-art Intel-based NT server and customized software to create a powerful production tool for driving the Liberator XE imagesetters. RIPRight can be used to control input/output job queue management, RIP process monitoring, image previewing, spooling, font downloading and RIP-to-disk functions. The NT platform supports Macintosh and PC workstations connected through a network to the RIPRight server. This server is used to control job flow to the Liberator and to specify many of the print parameters. Workstation applications use their print function to send PostScript files to the RIPRight server. Spool folders can be used to print PostScript and several other formats including TIFF, JPG, EPS, and Acrobat PDF. SpeedScreens The Optronics IntelliDot structure starts with a very small round spot and grows dots in a proprietary pattern. IntelliDot code interprets PostScript screening and tinting commands, reads and corrects PostScript language instructions for tints and screens to those with extremely precise equivalents. As a file is written to film, tints and screening commands are interpreted on the fly controlling dot size, shape and screen angle. This process provides superior gray scale over a wide range of frequencies. And, these intelligent commands optimize transitions in graduated tints, eliminating harsh breaks in images with smooth tonal reproduction between light and dark areas. Impression Stochastic Screening The key purposes of Optronics Impression screening are to eliminate moiré altogether, and allow more than four process color printing. Impression screens have similarities to both conventional and FM screens. They are similar to conventional in that they cluster pixels together to form dot structures that increase in size as the tone increases, making them more printable than FM screens. Like FM screens, they have no discernible pattern, which helps avoid moiré. Media Saving Want to know more? OYO can preconfigure a RIP and computer for use with your new Liberator. This is the recommended way to go to avoid problems that crop up when installing on systems with untested hardware. If you do want to provide your own PC, please make sure your system matches or exceeds the minimum configuration on the RIP Specification page. |
