The DFM-480-P Digital Field Monitor is a PC-based unit that utilizes a Pentium® CPU for rapid data rasterization and transfer, compatible with major Seismic Data Acquisition Systems.

Environmentally safe, the DFM-480-P uses a direct thermal (dry plotting) process on thermal paper, eliminating the use of toner or chemicals, and plots an 11.6" wide image in wiggle or variable mode with a resolution of 200 DPI.  It also provides annotation for timing lines, channel numbers, seismic lines, and station numbers.

System and plot parameters are entered from the front panel keypad, or from remote seismic recording systems.  Plot headers are entered from the keypad or ASCII text editors.

Channels are monitored and displayed on a wide angle Electro-Luminescent (EL) display for QC of noisy or dead channels before recording.  Its single fold (near trace gather) feature stores a combination of 4 data or AUX channels for each SP or VP location.   After a recording sequence, a near trace gather section can be displayed.

The DFM-480-P is designed for reliability and ease-of-use, requiring little maintenance.  The DFM-480-P has built-in diagnostic and test functions, and its documentation includes diagnostics to board level.

Paper loads from a front panel access, and all PC boards are mounted vertically and fully supported against shock damage.  Continuous air flow across the boards prevents overheating, even in confined areas.  Four expansion slots provide room for additional enhancements.

Features

  • Pentium® PC-based
  • Menu-driven
  • Seismic signals monitored and displayed on wide angle VGA EL monitor screen
  • 200 DPI resolution output on 12" thermal paper
  • Accepts up to 8200 digital input channels
  • Displays 480 channels time sequentially, 8200 channels trace-sequentially
  • Near-trace gathering (100% fold)
  • Vibroseis QC package optional
  • Upgradable for field processing
  • Environmentally safe
  • Rugged, portable, easy to maintain

DFM-480-P Interfaces

Interfaces for the industry's major Data Acquisition Systems are stored in memory.  The standard digital interface allows conversion from one recording system to another simply by changing interface cables and entering new parameters at the front panel.  Customer-specified interface cables are included with the DFM-480-P.
